Five-year plans, 1980-[ongoing].

Reorganization of public higher education in 1980 required the board of trustees of each public higher education institution to prepare and annually update a five-year plan, and required the Board of Regents to prepare a system-wide five-year plan to take into account individual institutional plans (MGLA c 15A, s 5). At the college level, the process of creating the plans consists of draft development by a committee of faculty, administrators, and students, and approval by the president and board of trustees. Annual updates are developed by the president's office and approved by the trustees. Series maintained by the president's office comprises books and booklets published by the Massachusetts College of Art since 1980 containing the college's five-year plans.
